The Wedding of Andre and Dominique Harvey
Traditional with a Touch of Whimsical.
Our wedding was an Italian inspired celebration with family and friends. We wanted a relaxed atmosphere filled with laughter, fun, music, dance, good food and wine. We chose Eureka Estate for our celebration and had the ceremony in their cellar, followed by cocktail and sundowners on the lawns and verandah and dinner in the main reception area. The venue was a perfect match for our vision because of the views, the strong architecture and the seamless flow of all the areas, not to mention the extraordinary staff and the eagerness of Mieke and her team to translate our vision and dream into the perfect wedding day.
The wedding day took a year to arrange. We sent out invitations and our wedding website went live one 2 November 2018. All communication was via the website, RSVPs, menu selection, reminders, and links to the gift registry and a geo location to the venue.
The idea was for the bride and groom and their parties to be kitted out in bespoke designer outfits that would set the mood for a day of classic tradition with a touch of whimsical. Rene H Couture designed and created the bespoke dresses for the bride, bridesmaids, mother-of-the-bride and mother-of-the-groom. The boys went to Frank Bespoke to ensure they complimented the ladies and looked very dapper and handsome on the day.
We took our vows framed by a gorgeous, white, floral arch created by Fleur de Cordeur. Music was by the talented Simply Strings Quartet. They played wonderful classics during the ceremony, and some old familiar favourites during cocktail and sundowners that set the mood for the afternoon and into early evening.
The pre-dinner session was open-ended for guests to enjoy whatever was on offer. We had games on the lawns, a Moro Gelato cart with 6 amazing flavours on offer. The Magnificent Barrista Boys served bottomless Expressos, Cappuccinos, hot chocolates etc. on one end of the verandah throughout the night, accompanied by irresistibly crafted indulgences from Wade’s Cakes. Also on the verandah was a Gin cart, a Bubbly cart (serving Prosecco), craft beer on tap or a selection of refreshing sodas or chilled water. Simply strings set up on the other end of the verandah. All the while guests were tempted with an array of excellent antipasti/canapés.
The reception hall was revealed for dinner just as the sun was setting, the room was gloriously decorated with romantic white floral arrangements of orchards, tulips, hydrangeas and potted greenery. A variety of candle treatments and lighting set the mood for an alfresco ambience. Overhead were baskets and some tendrils of greenery and naked lights to create a breathtaking and uniquely romantic atmosphere. We are grateful to Fleur de Cordeur and Baie Goeters who worked with Eureka Estate to achieve the perfect decor.
The Tables were long and filled with happy people, 18 guests per row of tables. The meal was hearty and once again we offered guests a choice of Seared Salmon and Risotto, Butternut Ravioli with sage butter for the vegetarians and for the carnivores a generous succulent lamb shank cooked to perfection with a red wine jus. By the time dessert came around the party was in full swing and DJ Elbees had everyone on their feet. Thankfully our videographer Kovacevic Bosch and the photographers from Aglow were on hand to capture every magical moment.
I think this was the best wedding because everyone involved worked superbly together to achieve the perfect day. A very happy bride and groom and by all accounts an unforgettable experience for everyone we had the pleasure to share the day with us.
We achieved our goal, a relaxed, fun and happy day enjoyed by everyone. Now we are enjoying our happy ever after.
